  1. Coughs
    Boil sugar candy and liquorice, strain it and put in into a bottle. The longer it was there the better for the cough. Another cure was to boil flax-seed and lemon juice.
    Burns
    Rub soda and buttermilk on the affected part.
    Bruises
    A leach was got and places on the bruise till it sucked the blood.
    Warts
    The water in which the blacksmith cools the iron is said to cure warts. Another cure is to search of a hollow stone in which there was water. This water is said to cure warts.
    Whooping Cough
    If people found a piece of bread along the road. They brought it home and washed it and boiled it in milk.
