  1. In Ireland long ago the people had a lot of old cures and many of them are still known.
    The cure they recommended for a corn was to roast a black snail in a white wet cloth and put it on corn.
    A cure for whooping cough is to put the person who has it, three times under a donkey when the moon is full.
    Another cure for the whooping cough is the moss of the big cross of Monasterboice.
