  1. Hacklim's Cave. or Garrett's fort, as it is sometimes called, is close to Millextown Church, near Ardee. It is in this cave that the enchaned horsemen are supposed to be hidden. Legend tells that these warriors of an earlier day were placed under a spell which will not be broken until a certain bugle is blown, when they will leap to arms and run forth to crush the enemies of Ireland. Tradition has it that someone once commenced to blow the bugle. The horsemen hearing it, began to rise and each got one foot in the stirrup, when the bugler stopped. They then relapsed under the
