The following twelve days after Christmas fortell, what the twelve months of the year will be like.

On St. Stephens Day a number of boys go around from door to door and sing songs, and one principal rhyme heard in this district is:-

The wran the wran the king of all birds.
St. Stephen's Day he was caught in a forge.
Up with the kettle, and down with the pan.
Give me some money to bury the wran.
On St Brigid's Eve. everyone makes a cross of rushes, and on St John's Day and on the eve of the feast of St.
