    Devlin's mill on the Devlin river about two miles from Slane, where corn, and wheat were ground up to twenty five years ago, by Frank Mullen. Rossin mill on the Mattock where corn was ground. Another corn mill was on the Boyne in Slane, while yet another was in sight of Mellifont Abbey Drogheda.
    Mr Caralon, Chapel Hill, Grange used to weave linen, but he is about seventy years dead. At the Coalpits, Slane, there was a forge, owned by Mr Callahan and and he is said to have been the finest carriage builder in Europe. At Monknewtown Cross, Slane, there was another forge. There is antoher forge in Slane, still in use, owned by Dick Tallan, where horses are shod and plough swings are made. Another
