    A time at which marriages most frequently take place is during Shrove.

    The lucky month is said to be June, and the lucky day - Wednesday and then a rhyme that the old believed was that the bride should have:-
    "Something old, something new.
    Something borrowed, and something blue"
    Marriages are remembered to have taken place in houses, and sometimes the ceremony was performed in the evenings.
    It is still counted unlucky for the bride or bridegroom, to meet on the morning of their marriage until they do so in church.
