    "What will I do?" says Paddy, "how can I go home to Judy and the childre, and hasn't a drop for them?"
    But he knew well how it would turn out, so he went on singing -
    Chorus
    "So your honour has seized on my keg
    I'm an elf if I carry it myself,
    As I haven't got on a dry rag,
    If you please, sir, you'll carry it yourself."
    Says the gauger: "Then with it I'll trudge
    And punish each smuggling vag."
    And his labour he never did grudge.
    But instantly carried the keg.
    Chorus
    Oh, the gauger, as fat as an ox,
    The sweat down his body did run,
    He looked like young Billy Bacchus,
    Liked Bacchus he carried the ton.
    Pat seemed in a terrible hurry -
    He walked as if 'twas what he meant -
    'Twas in order to knock out the gauger.
    Chorus.
    Now the Custom House in the next town
    It being three furlongs or more,
    Says Pat: "You may lave your load down,
    For here is my cabin door."
    Says the gauger: "I know what you mane,
