- My mother's father when cutting turf in Annamarron bog, between Leege and Annaheam near the Ardee Carrickmacross road, found an elk's skull and horns. It was down deep in turf. It is roughly about 40 years since it was found. A landlord's agent named Gibbons took it to the Landlord, Shirley of Loughfea near Carrickmacross.
