   In the famine days a farmer had a field of turnips and on the gate he had a notice as follows.

   Weary treveller as you pass by,
   you may pull one if you're dry.
   If you are hungry you may pull two,
   but if you pull three I'll have at thee.

   Another rhyme:-

   Round is the world, it goes upon wheels,
   Death is a thing that every man feels,
   if death was a thing that money could buy
   the rich would live and the poor would die.
   But God is so kind He would not do so,
   rich and poor they all must go

   I youth would know what age would crave,
   many a penny it would save.
