   The first that paid was Devin a man who is now dented

   He surely is a credit to all in Riverstown

   There is another grabber Mc Donnell is his name
   When he heard the news that Devin paid he said he'd do the same
   He gathered up his money and prepared it very soon
   And started off to Dublin, on the 29th of June

   When he went to Dudgeon he reached to him his hand
   And then he gave the money saying I've the best of land
   But I'm nearly robbed this very year, the campaign did me ruin
   But pardon me your honour and I'll never wait 'till June
