    15. Regarded as very unlucky to have occasion to turn back when setting out on any mission.

    18. It is unlucky to have three lights lit in a house at the same time.
    19. It is also regarded as unlucky to light three cigarettes with one match.
    20. A straw carried into the house on one's boot signifies a visitor to the house.
    21. A picture falling from the wall is looked upon as a warning of misfortune, as is also the spilling of salt.
    22. When putting away a deck of playing cards always mix or "drown" them, as it is termed locally, otherwise the devil and his friends are likely to make use of them during the night
    23. Do not carry playing cards in your pocket when out at night as if you do you are not unlikely to meet the devil.
    24. It is considered unlucky to let the fire out on May Day or to lend anything on that day.
    25. When a cow calves it is well to tie a piece of red yarn on her tail as you are thus preventing the fairies from taking the butter off her milk.
    26. A girl will likely see the reflection of her future husband if she looks into the mirror at midnight on Hallow E'en.
    27. Falling plaster in a house means early death of some of the occupants.
    28. To preserve the cow from evils until the next milking, the Sign of the Cross is made by the milker on the left side of the animal when the operation of milking is completed.
