  1. Long ago when a man wanted a girl to be his wife he and another man would go to the girls house. They would take a bottle of wine, or a bottle of whiskey to the house with them. When they would go into the hosue the other boy would tell what they came for. Then he would ask the girls father would he give him the girl to be his wife, and he would ask fortune has she. Then her parents would ask him what kind of a living would he give her then if they thought he would be a suitable husband for her the parents would be ???? to give her to him. Then if she wanted him they would arrange about the wedding and get married some time after that.
