  1. The people know very little about Saint Brigid, except that on Brigid's Eve the children make rush crosses in school, for it is said that with the help of a rush cross Saint Brigid taught the true faith to an old man who was dying. Every other day is supposed to be fine from Saint Brigid's Day. Every day is fine from Saint Patrick's Day onwards.
