Fair creature, just name this young soldier
No doubt, but I know the young man,
No heiress could ever be bolder,
Nor that unto which he belongs,
I served in that bold gallant regiment
And that for a number of years,
He cannot escape from my judgement
Sweet lovely wee maid of Dunleer,
    6
His name is young Edward O Farrell,
The same I will never disown,
He left me a comfortless girl,
His loss for to ever be bemoan,
For him I would sail the seas over,
Or travel the globe for my dear,
    But oh! I'm a heart-broken girl
That will shortly die in Dunleer
