  1. There are various kinds of wild birds, each having its own peculiarities. The blackbird the thrush and the lark are the best songsters. The blackbirds and thrush sing from the branches of the trees, while the lark sings as it soars in the air. The poet says of the thrush "he sings each song twice o'er, lest you should think he never could recapture, that first fine careless rapture".
    Most wild birds build their nests in thick hedges, with the exception of the lark, the swallow and the sparrow. The lark builds in a meadow and the swallow and sparrow build in old barns.
