  1. Miss Garron of Blackrock was able to carry a bag of grain, 20 stone weight, upon her back a distance of 4 miles.
    Mr John Halfpenny, now aged 80 years, when a young man of 30 years, was able to throw a 1/2 curt weight 22 feet.
    Mr Michael Murphy of Duffyscross jumped across the river Glyde a river between Ardee and Dundalk a distance of 10 yards, when pursued by yeomanry.
    About 12 miles from Co. Louth, a man called Francis McArdle left Crossmaglen Co. Armagh, walked to Dundalk a distance of twelve miles, and walked back before 10 o'clock A.M. delaying one hour in Dundalk and thus winning a bet of £10.
    Two lady visitors staying at Blackrock went to swim and were taken away in the direction of the light-house
