  1. In former times people did not wear boots until they wee about six year's of age.
    At present, children go barefoot in summer, but not all the year round.
    Boots are repaired locally.
    There are two shoemaker's in this district. This has been a tradition in their families.
    Clogs are only worn by divers and they are worn in other countries for skating.
    In Holland the people wear clogs in Winter. The water used for washing the feet is thrown out.
    In former times there were no shoemakers in this district because all the people mended their own boots.
    Long ago people would make leather from sheep-skins.
    It is said that if 2 people wash their feet in the same water they would be fighting.
