  1. Local Cures
    There is a very old cure for whooping cough. A Charity has to got from a man and woman married who have the same name, and it is supposed to cure the whopping cough within a week.
    There is also another cure for drawing and healing a sore. It is a leaf called the "carpenters leaf" and it can be got along the road-side.
    A cure for mumps is to roll the person who has the mumps in a pig sty, or to roll them under a donkey.
    Another cure for the mumps is to tie a cloth around your neck in which a worm called "Gods horse" is. This is supposed to cure the mumps within three days.
    A cure for a pain in the ear is to get the heart of a small onion and put it in the ear.
    A cure for a sty on your eye is to get a gooseberry thorn and point it at the sty and
