    a portent of death to you and to every ruler of Cooley of your race, foretelling the death of one dear to you and also yourself. Lair soon forgot the incident in the bustle of his coming marriage to the daughter of the chief of Rinn. As Lair was taking his bride home after the marriage by water the Chalice appeared over the water, and at that moment a blast of wind came and capsized the boat, and they were all drowned. And so the Saint's curse came true.
