  1. There were marriages carried on in this parish long ago, but they were alot different to that are carried on now.
    They were alot of customs connected with marriages long ago. The father of the girl that was getting married didnot give the girl money, but a couple of cows. Sometimes an old shoe was tied behind the car that the married pair were driving in as a sign of good luck.
    The people considered shrove to be a lucky time for getting married and a couple of days before Advent an unlucky time.
