  1. The only ruin to be seen around here is the old church in Tullaroan, and all the walls of which are standing and in fairly good condition considering the length it is without a roof.
    The church was destroyed by Cromwell's soldiers in 1649 or 1650 when he came to Ireland.
    The Castle at Courstown was the seat of the Grace family and was at one time a famous stronghold but there is nothing now to be seen of it but the mark of its foundation. It became a ruin some years after the siege of Limerck in 1691.
