  1. There was once a man living in Bealaha whose name was Thomas McDonnell and he was nicknamed Thomas Rodgers.
    It is said that he used to walk to Kilrush a distance of nine miles and bring home a half sack of flour on his shoulders. There was a man living in Balt [?] and there was a lot of rats in his house. He set a razor near the door with a chain [?] in it and all the rats came and rubbed their necks to the edge of the razor and cut their throats.
    A young man by the name of James Foran was feeding a lark and the lark escaped from the cage. He followed the lark, and the lark was not able to fly so good after being so long in the cage.
