  1. This is my story a I got it from Anthony Frawley Tiermanagh and he heard it told by old killeen of Knocknahilla Beg. It was about an old Mr. Kenny who lived there. He would be a grandfather of Mr. Matt Kelly formerly of Doolough Lodge. They used to say that he had a firkin of gold. and before he died, he (died) buried it somewhere in the land of Knocknahilla as it was there he lived at that time. So after his death several people dreamt about the gold. Many people came from all parts of the parish with spades and shovels digging holes by night in hopes of finding it. But none of them was lucky enough to find it. There was a neighbouring man by the name of Donlan visiting at one of those houses by night. as he was going home he was crossing the land which had once belonged to old Kenny. He strick his shoe against what he thought was a pot of gold. He would nearly swear up to the hour of his death that it was real gold sovereigns that sounded in the pot. The night was very dark and he turned back quite sure of finding
