  1. Long ago people used not wear shoes until they came to the age of twenty or twenty five years.
    It is customary for children nowadays to go barefoot for a portion of the year that is the months of Summer namely:- May, June and July.
    It is lucky to leave the water your feet are washed in out side the door during the night and to put a coal in it in such such a way that the Sun would shine on it in the morning.
    Boots are made and repaired in this district. If the upper of a boot is broken the shoemaker puts up a caoibín in it. If the sole or heel is broken he puts up a baurricín in it.
    The shoemakers are not as plentiful now in this district as they were some years
