  1. In years gone by some exciting incidents used to occur in Miltown.
    In the year 1884 Charles Stuart Parnell was Member of Parliament for County Clare, and there was a memorable day once when he came to hold a meeting there.
    The men of the place within a radius of twenty miles came to Miltown that night. They went down the Ennis Rd. as far as Ball's Bridge to meet him and they had large sods of turf steeped in parraffin oil and they lit them and held them aloft on hay forks.
