   When they are cold they are mashed again.
   Then flour, soda, and salt are mixed through the potatoes.
   The flour and potatoes are kneaded and the cake is baked on a griddle.

   1. In days gone by people had no white flour but wheaten flour.

   2. This was ground by means of a quern.

   3. There was a big quern over at Pat OLoughlin's in Milford.

   4. His great-grandfather used to grind the grain for the farmers around Miltown.

   5. The bread was very black because in that time they had no chemicals to improve the colour.

   6. There was another kind of bread
