- The Snaidhm Péiste or worm Knot is a very common and useful cure around this locality for young calves.
The sickness they get is called a gripe or internal pains and it is very dangerous for young calves
The farmer gets a short piece of twine.
He takes the two ends of the cord in his hands.
He catches one end of it and puts up the knot with his other hand and keeps on putting it up with one hand until he has it finished.
Then he takes the two ends of the cord and pulls it taut
He says " In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen", while doing this.
There must be no tangle in the cord when he does this.
He repeats it three times and if successful the calf gets better that day(continues on next page)
