    "No food to welcome the weary guest,

    His faith he forsook, his country sold."
    It is said that the satire weighed so much on Dómhnall's mind that he committed suicide.
    (N.B. This must have happened before the raid and burning of place by Cromwel's army under Ludlow.)

  2. Long ago a man (probably an O'Brien) lived in Moy Castle. He was a very brave Chieftain and one day he went with his supporters to a battle at Doagh near Lahinch.
    On going, he locked his wife and three children behind an iron door in cellar of the Castle. He did this for fear of their being attached during is absence. He was killed in the battle and it is said the iron door was never opened since.
