I took this fair maid by the hand
She says young man: be aisy
    Bhearsa a Dó
Is trefadóir mise is maith é mo chéard
Is tá fhios sin ag na chomharsain
Gur mó sin talamh do threabh mé riamh
Is níor chaill mé leo mo shláinte
Do bhainfinn féar at thaobh an chnuic
    Is dhéanfainn cruach na stáca
Do ríncfinn 'reel' le rún mo chroidhe
    Ar thaobh na Carraige Bána
I am a ploughboy and my seed it is sowed
and that's well known to the neighbours
Many's the fields I ploughed and sowed
    And tht without much labour
    I'd plough: I'd sow: I'd reap: I'd mow
I'd gather all into your barn
I'd sweep the flur and dance with you:
In the banks of Carraige Bána
    (Bhéarsa a Trí)
Do leath róchfainn m'fallang duit aroon
Mara mbeadh ann acht leithead cíanróige
