    Tamall amach sa bFoghmhar
    Cé chifinn chugham acht grádh mo chleíbh
    Is bhí sí ann 'na comhrú
    Bhí sí ann deas dearg agus geall
    Bhí dhá gruaidh mar na Roses
    Is d'faisg mé í go d'tluth le'm chroidhe
    Sé dubhairt sí bí i-d' chomhnuidhe

    As I roved out to view the plains
    Of a Summer's morning early
    A pretty fair maid I chanced to spy
    And her flowers they grew most mately
    Her cherry cheeks and ruby lips
    And her eyes would tickle the daisies.
