    Long ago the people used not wear any boots. They used
    to dig with a spade barefooted.There is a woman
    living in Ballyportrey who very seldom wears boots.
    She has a pair of elastics and she wears them going to Mass.

    Long ago the old people used to say; you should not
    throw out the feet-water after dark because the fairies
    might be passing. If they wanted to keep it inside
    during the night they should put a coal of fire into
    it.
