Old Roads

The Dromoher road was made in the time of the Board of Works. The men that were working on the road were paid eight pence a day. At that time there were three women living in the house the Linnanes now occupy and they used to make Indian meal bread for the men. There is another road leading from the mountains to Ceathrú na gCránn called bother na nacraí. This is so called because there were several little houses on the road and the people there had only an acre of a garden each.

Old Roads

There is an old road leading through Ballcashen called the old road. Long ago when Maire Ruadh was in Lemeneigh Castle she put a gate up near Roughan and the people had to make a road through Ballycashen to Kilfenora. Maistin Caoch na Cruaiche broke the gates at last
