The following story is told in this parish (Kilnaboy). On the Bourneen it is said that there is a crock of gold hidden and that is guarded by a cock. The old people say that it can be found at mid-night, and that if the person that finds this treasure looks away from it without throwing a pinch of earth on it, it would vanish from his sight.

One night three men went looking for it, and when they came near it, the cock crew and they ran for their lives.
