  1. Patrick O'Brien was a great walker. He lived somewhere around Barefield, but the exact place is not known. One day he walked to Galway which is about forty miles from Ennis.
    Michael O'Connor was a great swimmer. He was born a few miles outside Ennis on the Ennis-Corofin road. He often swam three miles before his breakfast in the morning. One day when he was swimming he got a cramp and was drowned.
    James Tuttle was a great mower. He lived about three miles from Ennis. He could mow and English acre in about two hours.
    Fire-ball Mac Namara of Moyreish who fought at Vinegar Hill was a hero at shooting. He could throw a penny into the sky and shoot the middle out of it when it was coming down.
