  1. Long ago there stood an old house beside a ruined Abbey. In the house lived an old farmer, who had eight cows and calves. It was in winter time, he had no place to put them. He built a shed for them with stones but he had not enough of stones to finish it so he took some off the Abbey, and finished it with them. He put the cows and calves into it that night.
    Next morning he went to milk them. He opened the door, and found one of the best of
