The Fianna used to come to Mt Callan to "altóir na Gréine"to worship the sun.The people of Knaturk ,Kilmaley told them that a wild boar was killing all their cattle. They pursued him and killed him. They feasted on the boar ,and buried his head.This is the reason Kanturk gets its name."Ceann Tuirc". - Informant
