    On Chalk Sunday all the boys and girls buy chalk and they go around chalking the people and they have great fun.
    On Shrove Tuesday the people make pancakes and they put a ring in the middle of the pan-cake and it is said that whoever gets the piece with the ring they would be the first to get married in the family.
    On Easter Sunday all the people eat about three or four eggs each.
    On November's Eve the young boys and girls put down two nuts on a coal near the fire, a black nut and a white nut. They call the black nut a boy and the white nut a girl. If the two nuts stay in the fire together they will be married but if one of them hops away they will not be married.
    On St. Martin's Eve the people kill a goose or a cock and they sprinkle the blood on the four corners of the house and in the cabins. They dip a piece of cotton wool in the blood and they put it up safe. Whenever a person gets a pain in their side they rub the cotton wool to it and it takes
