  1. About six years ago there was a man named Thomas Lernihan who had two bad feet, and one night the young folk of Leitrim made a plan on a frosty evening to bring him out on the frost. Three of them dressed up in good clothes as two men and a woman. They came to this man's house and Thomas heard that there was a yankee coming home to John Lernihan's house. One of the men knocked at the door and asked Thomas to come out, he came out very politely as he thought is was the yankee, they asked him the way to John Lernihan's, he told them the way then they asked him could they go a short way, he directed them n a short way and they were going pleased with them-selves, but one of them struck against him and knocked him in the ice and he could not get up for along
