  1. This school is built on a path called the Path of the Fairies because the fairies are supposed to be seen dancing here. The path goes through Ned Connolly's fort. One day as a man was saving hay he made a cock of hay on the path and it would not stay up. He went in and told an old woman called Kitty Murphy [of Ballagh] about it an she said "You have made the cock of hay on the path of the fairies and remove it quickly or it will rot". He removed it and he made it in another part of the made where it stayed up.
