  1. On Shrove Tuesday people boil a little bit of bacon and drive a scollop through it and stick it in the thatch. On Easter Sunday it is brought down and each member of the family eats three little bits of it in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost and this is supposed to keep away sickness for the rest of the year.
