  1. Come along all jolly labouring boys.
I'll have you shun hard work
For you know those Ballagh farmers
Will treat you like a turk.
My feet are sore, and my brogues are wore
And I am limping like a frog.
And my lungs are strained from shouting.
At the jackass in the bog
    II
My master is an early man.
    And don't forget to call.
    At four o'clock each morning.
He wakes us one and all
Saying "Arise up Pat and get to work
'Or else you'll lose your job
and take some hay with you to day
For the jackass in the bog"
When the call of dinner comes around
They will feed you like a pup
From a gallon lid you will be fed
    No saucer or no cup
My wages are so very small
That I spend them all on fags
Like a crowman in the garden
