The Rebel on his steed is Eamonn a' Cnuic
Oh! for an artists soul to paint that rebel on his steed
With Phelims mountains at his back above the heathery mead
Id paint a gallant swordsman then with purpose in his eye.
That fought the age-old fight for us when war clouds hung on high

But who could paint a face like his type of his country's soul.
His lips like chiselled granite when he led towards freedom's goal
His eyes like dancing sunbeams when the Gael had won the fight,
He ruled Phelims like a king with sword that flashed for right.
