“In my native parish....”
In my native parish (Ola parish Co Waterford) there lived a simpleton nicknamed "An O Ruictín". He was in the habit of bringing his dog to mass and dog used to bark sometimes during the sermon. The priest resented this, and one day as he was entering the church to say mass he kicked the dog and killed him. An onlooker remarked - "Ní bár gan ragareth a fnair madra an O Ruictín"

A lame man was once driving a donkey & cart against the hill, and he met the priest and the priest said:- "Tá an craoine (guide) bacac agus an th-aral Stheanntha""Túl" arf an th cowánaide " ac thá an cnoc ró mór is an th nalac Ró Throm dó agus ná baineann saon rud do is mór an nid an sagarth a beiz na theannea". - Informant
