  1. The following story was told to me by Denis O'Connell, Ballinacourtie, Aherlow.
About fifty years ago Mr Dillon a native of Galbally dreamt there was gold hidden in the Moor Abbey. He went to a fair in Tipperary and met two other men and as they were drinking together he told them about the strange dream he had. One of the men said "I had the very same dream" and so had the third man. They decided to go and search for the gold that night. About ten o'clock that same night they went to the Abbey and started to dig at the place they dreamt about. They were digging for some time until they came to a huge stone flag. They were about to lift the stone when they heard a bull roaring and the walls of the Abbey seemed to tremble around them. They rushed out the door of the Abbey and they saw a funeral pass up to the back of Abbey. They told some of the people around about the flag and the great fright they got. When they went to the Abbey next day the hole was the same as if nothing had been done to it.
