    A Funny Story
Once upon a time, there lived in Kilross a man whose name was Tom Kane. His wife and hims were very poor, she was alwaysprayhing for the Lord to open a gap for them.
One night a terrible wind arose, which blew the gable off the house. "Whelan" (a nickname he had for his wife) said Tom to his wife. "The Lord has opened a gap for you, I wonder who is going to close it"
