Tom Keane's wife was always complaining when things weren't going well with her she would say I wish God would open a gap for us and one night there was a thunder storm and the lightning hit the end of the house leaving a big hole in it when Tom saw it he said to her come on you blind devil till you see the fine gap God opened for you he heard your prayer at last.
    Bill Orchard was at Hoeys one Sunday with Mick Keatlng, Jack Moloney, Pat Murphy and Mick Nash. There were having a pint when Davie Hoey said the pelers (sic) were coming they all made for the back door Bill Orchard being a traveler he stood his ground the peelers went out in the back and was going into the graveyard when Bill called and said there is no body in there but dead people.
