  1. Tradition says that treasure is hidden in Thomastown Castle which is situated near Tipperary town.
    The Danes attacked the Castle and the occupants of it collected their valuables and gold and hid them.
    Their hiding-place still remains a secret, but some years ago it is said that boys from the town unearthed gold. One of these went to America.
    Father Mathew was born in Thomastown itself.
    A ghost was seen near the vaults in Thomastown Castle
