In this district long ago the people were good hurlers.
The Kilmoyler district used to challenge the Knockgraffon people, who lived just across the Suir to hurl with them.
They used to leave the ball half way between the two crowds and each party used to try to put the ball into the home territory.
The ball was as big almost as a Farmer's pot.
There were hardly any rules to govern the game.
The ball used to be made of thread and leather and "Sliotar" it was called.
The victorious party kept the ball until the opponents on the following or any other Sunday succeeded in taking in from them.
There were matches almost every Sunday.- Bailitheoir
