    A daring feat of horsemanship. In the neighbourhood of Cahir lived a family named O' Doherty.

    to mount the bridge at the Castle side stop across the battlement and get down at the Mill end.
    His rival followed suit.
    O'Doherty repeated the feat but instead of getting his horse to descend at the Mill side he turned him round and stepped back to the starting point.
    This the English man also succeeded in doing.
    O'Doherty got his horse to mount the battlement a third time and on reaching the centre faced his horse down stream into which the horse with his rider plunged.
    The water here at ordinary times is nearly twenty feet deep.
    Horse and rider both gained the bank a little lower down.
