    Story
There is a story told that St Brigid once came to Mollough Abbey. (Mollough, Newcastle, Clonmel)
While she stayed there the Abbey was burned. St Brigid , seeing it being burned ordered the nuns to leave and they marched down to the river and were never seen or heard of again. But it is said that a bell is heard in the night at the bank from underground. After that Mollough was called "Mullac Brigde"
    Breac Brighde
It is a custom among the people to hang out a ribbon on a hedge on St Brigid's Eve. They hang it out after sunset and take it in before sunrise.
They believe that St Brigid blesses it during the night. It is then kept as a cure for headaches. When a person has a headache, the ribbon is tied around his head and may cure him.
